How much product should I use?

Knowing how much product to use for both result and value for money is a question our therapists hear time and time again. Therefore to ensure you’re getting the most out of your products, we’ve broken-down how much you should be using to perfect your daily skincare routine.

Cleanser = Large grape

How much cleanser you need boils down to what type of cleanser you’re using. For a cleansing balm or milk the size of a large grape works perfectly to fully cleanse your face, neck and décolleté. If you’re using a foam cleanser or micellar water however, this will vary.

Foam Cleanser – one to two pumps in the palm of the hand should be sufficient to thoroughly cleanse. Depending on how much make-up you’re wearing, or if your skin is feeling the effects of pollution, you may want to repeat this process in order to feel fresh and clean.

Micellar Water – two to three pumps of our Purifying Micellar Cleanser on dry cotton pads is more than enough to sweep across face, neck and décolleté.

Remember, the type of cleanser you choose is completely down to personal preference (whether you prefer washing with water or happy with lotions or milks). And if you aren’t feeling as fresh as you’d like, double cleanse with the same cleanser or try using a different cleanser – starting with a lotion and finishing with a balm for example.

Eye Cream or Gel = Grain of Rice

The skin around the eye is particularly delicate (6 – 10 times thinner than other parts of the face) and should be treated in a delicate way. Imagine if you will a droplet of water spreading across tissue paper, too much product in the wrong place therefore has a similar effect on the eyes.

Wanting to use as little product as possible, the size of a grain of rice for both eyes, applied with the ring finger (the hand’s weakest finger, tapped along the brow and orbital bone) is ideal – and never apply directly under lashes.

Moisturiser = Almond

Most skin types will find the size of an almond more than enough to smooth moisturiser across the face, neck, décolleté. However, if skin feels dry, tight or simply not enjoying harsh weather conditions (too hot or cold), consider using our Hydrating Floral SpafreshOptimal Skin ProSerum or Replenishing Facial Oil underneath your usual moisturiser to boost your complexion.

Serums and Oils = Blueberry

For most serums and oils you’ll need anything from one pump to a few drops depending on how oily or dry skin feels each day. As a guide, the size of a blueberry patted with finger tips into your skin for a serum, or warmed and pressed into the skin with palms for an oil, is perfect.

Masks = Raspberry

For a mask the size of a raspberry should be enough for the whole face – although, if you prefer a more generous layer, another raspberry sized amount can be applied. But don’t forget, you can always multimask to cover your differing skin needs.
